Whitebox Studios was just at the CAPIC event tonight at Langara College, featuring Selena Maitreya who gave valuable input about commercial photography and really having a vision for your work and making your marketing efforts effective and to really thrive in this industry.

Whitebox Studios also sponsored the event and gave away $50 studio credit and the Canon Lens Mug as a door prize, who was won by Adam Blasberg (http://www.adamblasberg.com/), one of the great and talented photographers here in Vancouver. He has an amazing branding strategy that really stands out, and his photography is amazing as well.

Thank you to Rick Etkin (http://www.ricketkin.com), the current CAPIC Vancouver president, for featuring us on his blog, and also for the great introduction and spiel about our studio. We were very happy to host the CAPIC Vancouver chapter board a few weeks ago at our studio for their monthly board meeting.

We’re YOUR Creative Space

What sets us apart from other studios is that we are YOUR creative space. What does that mean?

Whitebox Studios is a fully-furnished 2,000 square foot commercial rental studio built for photographers and photography subjects. It is a completely private space; our office is not even onsite. So it is your creative space, meet your clients there, do your photoshoots without any distraction whatsoever.

Every single detail has been considered, hence our studio is not an empty space, everything is there for a reason. We have 1,000 square feet of shooting space, which includes white walls and floors, a 33 foot wide CYC Cove wall, a grade load bay door, 16 foot high ceilings, and natural light windows with blockouts. We also have 1,000 square feet of amenities, including a lounge, production office, changing room, kitchenette, washroom and shower, make-up and hair styling area). The studio is equipped with an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) climate control. We also have Profoto Equipment for Rent, as as staffing contacts for other artists you want to be part of your team. We are also very transit-friendly, being just a 5-minute bus ride from the Canada Line Bridgeport Station. We also have free parking for over 50 cars. On top of that, we also offer in-house printing at the studio. We do 2400 dpi high quality printing, low quantity, with a fast turnaround time.

Whitebox Studios was one of the sponsors of CAPIC’s Portfolio Speed Review Event yesterday at Vancouver Photo Workshops. The event was great, it was awesome to see tons of photographers of all levels having their portfolios reviewed by Art Directors of the top agencies locally and nationally as well. Whitebox gave away a free creative session to Shawn Taylor (http://www.shawntaylorphoto.com/), who was the lucky winner during the door prize draws.

Blitzgear, Whitebox’s parent company was also there and sponsored the printing of the signage, as well as a door prize of $100 worth of print credit. It was great to see a good number of photographers out there that are open to learning and improving their portfolio for more commercial work.

Kudos to Rick Etkin, Byron Smith, Linda Mackie, Dave Rossander, Steve Pinter, Dave Ellingsen, and the whole CAPIC team that made the event possible.
